This easy-to-make recipe is perfect for busy weeknights or game-day gatherings, taking just 30 minutes to prepare. Packed with seasoned ground beef, sautéed vegetables, and gooey cheese, these sandwiches deliver a delightful burst of flavor in every bite. Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 small onion (finely chopped)
  • 1 small green bell pepper (diced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp salt (adjust to taste)
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup milk (warm)
  • 1 cup shredded provolone or white American cheese
  • 4 brioche or hamburger buns (toasted)
  • 1 tbsp butter (for toasting buns)
  • Extra provolone or cheddar cheese slices (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned (about 5 minutes). Drain excess fat if necessary.
  2. Add the chopped onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic. Sauté for about 3–4 minutes until softened.
  3. Stir in Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, Dijon mustard, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Let it simmer for an additional 3–5 minutes.
  4. For the cheese sauce, melt butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute. Gradually whisk in warm milk until smooth; add shredded cheese until melted and creamy.
  5. Toast the inside of each bun in a hot pan with butter until golden brown.
  6. Assemble by spooning the beef mixture onto toasted buns and drizzling with cheese sauce.
