Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 yellow onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
  • 1 large French or Italian bread loaf
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Method
 

  1. Brown ground beef in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it up as it cooks.
  2. Add diced onion and cook until softened. Season with salt and pepper. Remove from heat.
  3. In a small bowl, combine melted butter and minced garlic.
  4. Slice loaf in half horizontally and hollow out a bit of the inside.
  5. Brush inside of the bread with garlic butter mixture.
  6. Fill with beef and onion mixture.
  7. Top evenly with mozzarella and provolone cheese.
  8. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 12-15 minutes until cheese is melted and bread is golden.
  9. Let cool slightly, then slice and serve warm.
