  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup carrots, diced
  • 1 cup green peas
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 4 cups Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium-high heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add onion, garlic, carrots, and peas. Cook until veggies soften.
  4. Stir in tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce.
  5. Pour in beef broth and simmer for 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  6. In a separate pot, boil potatoes until fork-tender.
  7. Drain and mash with butter and cream until smooth.
  8. Spread beef mixture in a baking dish or skillet.
  9. Top with mashed potatoes and sprinkle with cheddar cheese.
  10. Bake for 20 minutes. Broil for 2–3 minutes until golden on top.
  11. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm.
