  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Mix-Ins
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candies

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, then mix in the vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips and two-thirds of the crushed peppermint candies.
  6. Scoop dough onto lined baking sheets, spacing 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake at 350°F for 9–11 minutes, until edges are set.
  8. While warm, top with remaining crushed peppermint.
  9. Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire rack.
