Ingredients
  

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk, cold

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or grease lightly.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in cold butter using pastry cutter or fingers until crumbly.
  4. Pour in cold buttermilk and mix just until dough forms.
  5. Turn dough onto floured surface, pat into rectangle, fold 2–3 times, then roll to 1-inch thick.
  6. Cut out biscuits using a round cutter and place on baking sheet, sides touching.
  7. Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden. Brush tops with butter if desired.
