Ingredients

  • 2 sheets ready roll puff pastry Vegan & gluten-free
  • 6 tablespoons Vegan Nutella This rich spread will be the star of our hand pies.
  • 2 medium sized bananas These will add natural sweetness and creaminess to the filling.
  • 3 tablespoons dairy-free milk Use this for the ‘egg wash’ to give a golden finish.
  • 2 tablespoons caster / granulated sugar Sprinkling this on top enhances sweetness and crunch.
  • 1 packet dairy-free white chocolate buttons Perfect for creating mummy eyes!
  • 2 tablespoons icing sugar A light dusting adds an elegant touch to your finished pies.

Method

  1. Preheat your oven according to the puff pastry package instructions. Roll out the two sheets of ready-roll puff pastry on a lightly floured surface, ensuring they fit your desired size for hand pies.
  2. In a bowl, mash the bananas until smooth and mix in the Vegan Nutella until fully combined. This mixture will serve as a creamy and decadent filling, balancing sweetness with rich flavor.
  3. Cut out rectangles from the pastry sheets, placing a generous spoonful of the banana-Nutella mixture in the center of each rectangle. Carefully fold over one side to form a pocket, sealing edges with a fork or by pinching them together.
  4. Brush the tops of each hand pie with dairy-free milk for that golden look while baking. Sprinkle caster sugar on top before placing them in the oven to bake until golden brown.
  5. Once cooled, melt some dairy-free white chocolate buttons and drizzle over each pie to create ‘bandages.’ Add small dots or drizzles for eyes using any remaining melted chocolate.
  6. Dust with icing sugar just before serving for an extra special touch. These delightful Nutella Mummy Hand Pies are sure to impress and satisfy all your Halloween guests!
