Ingredients

  • 12 ounces Broccoli Fresh or frozen
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil For cooking turkey
  • 1/2 tablespoon Olive oil For sautéing additional ingredients
  • 1 pound Extra lean ground turkey Healthy protein choice
  • 1 and 1/3 cups Orzo Cooks quickly and absorbs flavors
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon pepper seasoning Adds a zesty kick
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard Provides depth and tanginess
  • 1/4 cup Lemon juice Freshly squeezed
  • 1 cup Chicken broth Use low-sodium for a healthier option
  • 1 and 1/2 cups Chicken broth For a total of 2 and 1/2 cups
  • 2 tablespoons Butter Adds richness
  • 1 cup Milk Helps create a creamy sauce
  • 2 ounces Shredded parmesan For added flavor and texture
  • Red pepper flakes Optional, for added heat

Method

  1. Prepare the Ingredients: Start by washing and chopping your broccoli into bite-sized pieces. Measure out all other ingredients so they are ready to go when you start cooking.
  2. Cook the Broccoli: In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the broccoli and sauté until bright green and tender, about 5-7 minutes, then remove from skillet and set aside.
  3. Brown the Turkey: In the same skillet, add an additional 1/2 tablespoon of olive oil if necessary, then add ground turkey. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Combine Flavors: Once the turkey is cooked, stir in lemon pepper seasoning, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, and both portions of chicken broth. Bring to a simmer before adding orzo.
  5. Add Remaining Ingredients: Stir in milk and butter until melted and combined smoothly. Finally, add cooked broccoli back into the skillet along with parmesan cheese; stir until everything is well coated.
  6. Serve Your Dish: Serve hot with red pepper flakes sprinkled on top if desired for added spice.
