Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups flour Plain/all-purpose flour gives the best texture.
  • 8 tsp baking powder Acts as the leavening agent.
  • 3 tsp white sugar Enhances flavor and browning.
  • 1.5 tsp cooking / kosher salt Provides essential flavor.
  • 2.25 cups milk Warmed milk helps activate the baking powder.
  • 0.25 cup oil Any plain oil like vegetable or olive adds richness.

Method
 

  1. Preheat your oven to 220°C/430°F (200°C fan).
  2. Grease a 22 x 13 cm / 9 x 5" loaf pan with oil and line it with parchment/baking paper.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Mix well.
  4. Create a well in the center of your dry mixture and pour in the warmed milk and oil. Stir until just combined.
  5. Transfer the batter into your prepared loaf pan and smooth out the surface.
  6. Place in your preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes. Cover with foil and reduce oven temperature to 200°C/390°F, then bake for an additional 20 minutes until golden brown.
